Model for Change

Why we started this

Model for Change was born from a shared desire among international high school students to protect ourselves—and those around us—from the harmful influences and pressures we face in today’s world.

In an environment where issues like substance abuse, unrealistic beauty standards, mental health struggles, and peer pressure are becoming increasingly normalized, we believe it is more important than ever to raise our voices and support one another.

Each of us brings different talents—whether in photography, fashion, writing, music, or art—and through these gifts, we are learning how to help one another grow. This project is our way of preparing ourselves not just to survive adolescence, but to become healthy, thoughtful, and responsible adults who can create positive change in the world around us.

Model for Change Project

1. Introduction

The entity Model for Change serves as more than a standard modeling agency since it functions as a youth-managed visual media outlet dedicated to spotlighting contemporary social challenges among young adults. Educational self-expression enables students to function as informational agents whose fashion art and photography and storytelling puts essential issues into the spotlight. The project investigates the potential prospects of modeling alongside content production as viable career choices or business opportunities for the youth.

2. Background & Problem

The current generation of middle and high school students encounter various life challenges without proper venues to access emotional processing. Time-speed in digital era prioritizes false appearance over meaningful content thus limiting platforms that authentically magnify youth perspectives.

Key issues include:

  • Drug and stimulant misuse.

  • More people start using vapes as an acceptable habit alongside younger individuals who begin smoking before the legal age.

  • People experience deteriorating mental wellness together with increasing academic stress.

  • Uncritical attitudes toward tattoos and body modification.

  • Bullying and peer pressure.

  • Apart from physical appearance temptations social media creates unrealistic beauty standards.

  • Digital addiction and isolation.

  • Gender discrimination and sexual identity struggles along with facing discrimination.

  • People experience intense pressure because they must fulfill adult requirements or limit their creative output.

It’s time to shift the narrative—by allowing young people to define how these issues affect them and share their truths through powerful, creative expression.

3. Objectives

  1. Creative Self-Expression & Message Delivery

    1. Young people should use visual and emotional means to depict their obstacles so others become empathetic while starting meaningful interactions.

  2. Career & Business Exploration

    1. Youth can examine professional prospects in fashion along with photography and branding through hands-on modeling experience and media generation projects and content development activities.

  3. Awareness of Consequences

    1. Youth need education about realistic consequences from dangerous activities that include vaping together with substance abuse and risky choices in order to understand visible and invisible emotional and physical harms by viewing campaigns specifically designed for these purposes. Empowering knowledge and personal insights remain the ultimate purpose rather than generating feelings of shame in these targeted individuals.

4. Key Concepts & Strategy

  • Multi-Modal Expression: Use photography, fashion styling, typography, performance art, and digital design to communicate messages in bold, visual ways.

  • Diverse Perspectives: Allow for multiple interpretations from both the model and the audience.

  • Authentic Imagery: Artistic photography teams (featuring Jo Se-hyun) should document meaningful real-life stories beyond visual appeal.

5. Sample Campaign Concepts

  1. Anti-Tattoo Awareness
"Think Before You Ink – It’s Not Just a Trend."

  • A youth hesitating before getting a tattoo

  • Shadows of older individuals expressing regret in the background

  1. Anti-Vaping Campaign
"Real Strength is Saying No – Don’t Let Vaping Control You."

  • A powerful image of a student confidently rejecting a vape among peers

  1. Vaping in Everyday Life – Reality Check

  • Teens vaping casually in schools or public places

  • Observational, almost documentary-style images that spark reflection

  1. Study Drug Abuse Warning
    "Study Boosters or Breakdown?"

  • A late-night scene of a student dependent on pills, surrounded by clocks, stress, and isolation

6. Execution Plan

  1. Planning Phase

    1. Brainstorm and finalize campaign concepts

    2. Schools and networks should be used to attract youth participants.

  1. Production Phase

    1. We will conduct organized photo sessions and various design stages alongside stylist choices and image production and design processes.

    2. The team will develop social media content and short films and exhibits.

  1. Launch Phase

    1. The organization should produce exhibitions together with digital advertising initiatives.

    2. The sale of exclusive merchandise generates funds that donated completely to charitable causes.

  1. Expansion Phase

    1. Partner with brands, public institutions, and nonprofits

    2. Organize educational workshops together with mentorship programs that introduce the media field along with social advocacy opportunities

7. Expected Impact

  • A greater understanding of and discussion of youth-centered social issues

  • Empowerment via creative ownership and self-expression

  • Actual donations to worthy causes made possible by nonprofit profits

  • New avenues for young people to investigate careers in advocacy, media, and fashion

8. Educating Youth on Consequences

  • The core function of Model for Change relies on explaining to students how their current decisions will influence their future. Most young people start dangerous behavioral paths which they fail to comprehend either emotionally or physically or socially.

  • Using storytelling coupled with effective imagery we demonstrate:

    • Stimulant drug use along with other substances can lead to multiple problems including addiction development and anxiety disorders and permanent cognitive impairment.

    • Similar to smoking the use of vaping tools has detrimental effects on both lung functionality and mental abilities.

    • Acting hastily toward body modifications leads to future disappointments and medical complications

    • The excessive use of study pills ends in burnout rather than academic success.

    • The way social media shapes how people see themselves as well as their identities becomes distorted

By offering relatable and honest representations, we hope to give students the tools to think critically and choose with awareness—not fear.

9. Creative Expression Channels for Youth

  • Every young person possesses the right to express themselves freely. The voice of each young person comes to life in diverse creative ways.

  • The process of storytelling takes place through photographic images which might be either deliberately or spontaneously created.

  • Art & Design: Drawings, fashion, posters, and digital design

  • Music and Songwriting: People use original lyrics or compositions with music as means to share emotions and deliver messages through songwriting and music creation.

  • Poetry & Writing: Spoken word, essays, and personal reflections

  • Dynamic performance: utilizes either dance or drama or movement for expressing sophisticated feelings.

  • These forms of expression are not just creative outlets—they are platforms for change. Through them, students become models for awareness, truth, and transformation.
